There's certainly plenty they still aren't telling all of us, but I'm also inclined to believe this isn't their doing—our arrival or the circumstances of these last few days.
If that's true, I'd like to know how the place differentiates between us and them so seamlessly. If it's calculated and precise enough to do that and to alter for us so abruptly, chances are you will be tempting punishment if you go poking around.
